THE SIX HATS METHOD

Thinking algotithm when taking decisions.

How to use these six hats?
What do they mean?

Blue Hat

Is taken on at the beginning of discussions to start thinking and decide what we want to archieve. This hat is to watch the process itself and control it (marking targets, summing up).

Red Hat

The Red hat means emotions, intuition, feelings and premonitions. You need prove nothing. Just tell what feelings the idea provokes.

Black Hat

The black color reminds of the court and strict judje. This hat means criticism and evaluation. It reveals drawbacks and risks and tells us why something can go wrong.
White Hat

White color usually reminds of the paper. When taking the White Hat on we focus on the information which weneed to take decision: only figures and facts.
Green Hat

It is all about plants, growth, energy and life. The Green Hat means creativity, idea generation, development of unorthodox approach and alternative points of view.
Yellow Hat

Yellow is the color, symbolizing optimism and light of the sun. When we take on the Yellow hat, we try to find advantages of the idea, its perspectives and possible wins. Also we try to see the hidden resourses.

Blue Hat
(goals)
We want to farm salmon and supply to the US market 100 kgs of fish monthly
Red Hat
(intuition, feelings)
I know, that's just what I want.
Black Hat
(criticism)
Salmon can see no demand. There is crysis at the moment everywhere, so demand will only drops. There is a tough European competition
White Hat
(figures and facts)
Fresh salmon meat costs 4.54 USD per Kilo. Wild salmon gets extinct, and farming can help meet ever encreasing demand.
Green Hat
(idea generation, development of unorthodox approach)

There is a neglected farm with a pond 2 miles away from the town. Infrastructure is almost preserved.

We need only do some renvations and restore cages.

Yellow Hat
(advantages)
Salmon farming is a well established industry. This part of country does not suffer from natural disasters, so we can be protected from sudden loses and damage.
